I Don't Know Anything

We played this song a second higher (starting on an F# chord instead of E) - I probably could have capo'd it 2 and played as you've transcribed, but I liked using bar chords to emphasize the rhythm by damping out the notes with my left hand. That was something I learned from David Southcombe way back in our Merrickville days, when we were still living up at Collar Hill.
I'm not sure what inspired Danny to write these lyrics, but they ring true to his character - not afraid to be silly and poke fun at himself while maintaining a deeper undertone. This song dates back to the early to mid 1980's. In this day and age, it's not as acceptable to make light of mental health issues (and rightly so) - but as the song says, "So if I’ve ever done you wrong / I really didn’t mean you harm - apologies on Danny's behalf to anyone it might offend.
('Bo Diddly' beat...) These chords for guitar will provide the correct pitch with the recorded version, when played with a capo on the third fret of the guitar. E A E When I was only twenty-two E A E There were a lot of things I thought I knew G C G I grew older much too fast G C G I couldn't make that confidence last G C E A E Too bad I didn't know what I know now. E A E I don't know anything E A E I don't know anything G C G I hope that God knows G C G I hope that God knows Fmaj7 C B7 That I care about my soul. Some folks think that I'm just lazy But the truth is that I'm really crazy I don't have too strong a grip One false move and I could slip I don't know why they let a lunatic like me go free. I don't know anything... So if I've ever done you wrong I really didn't mean you harm Sometimes I just think too much And sometimes I don't think enough Sometimes I don't know what I'm talking about. I don't know anything...
